The rough outline of the Christmas short story for Samhain is done.
Now to write it.
The novella is still being tweaked, but it's more layering in than adding, which I need to do, but i need to get the christmas story done first. I want to get the shape shifter novella into my editor by sometime in Jan latest. If I do, and she buys it, there's a good chance it could be released close to the time Felicity Stripped Bare is released as a print book.

I'm going to make a big mug of tea now, plug into the itunes and get some writing done.

But before I go, I'll leave you with this fun thing. (Link courtesy of Jenny Crusie.) The Typealyzer is essentially a Myers-Briggs test for your blog. Here's the results for vanessajaye.blog

ISTP - The Mechanics

The independent and problem-solving type. They are especially attuned to the demands of the moment are masters of responding to challenges that arise spontaneously. They generally prefer to think things out for themselves and often avoid inter-personal conflicts.

The Mechanics enjoy working together with other independent and highly skilled people and often like seek fun and action both in their work and personal life. They enjoy adventure and risk such as in driving race cars or working as policemen and firefighters.

It's kinda scary how closely this nails my personality, except I'm not a big risk taker. There was an image of what parts of the brain The Mechanic mostly utilizes (I couldn't copy it to post here) and I was surprised to see that the part of the brain that controls emotions was hardly touched. My friends tend to tease me about wearing my heart on my sleeve, so to speak. Then again, it makes sense. I'm fairly careful about revealling aspects of myself on this blog.

My blog calls me a Performer: The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells. They live in the present moment and don´t like to plan ahead - they are always in risk of exhausting themselves.

The enjoy work that makes them able to help other people in a concrete and visible way. They tend to avoid conflicts and rarely initiate confrontation - qualities that can make it hard for them in management positions.

I'm not so sure about that management thing, lol. I'm all about the management, baby!

It says I'm the "Executive" type.
"The direct and assertive type. They are especially attuned to the big picture and how to get things done. They are talented strategic planners, but might come off as insensitive to others needs...Not being very shy about expressing their ideas and often very outgoing they often make excellent public speakers."

Um...no. Lol.
Opinionated? Yes. Public speaking? Good Lord, no.
Insensitive? What idiot came up with that?! ;)

(Sounds like you're doing better on the Xmas story than I am! Onward!)

This is soooo not you. lol. And, yeah, you're a natural at management. ;-P

Raine - "Public speaking? Good Lord, no. Insensitive? What idiot came up with that?!"

uhm. yeah, that's another wide miss.

The whole thing is like getting your cards read, so stuff hits the bullseye, other stuff is way of the mark.

As for the writing, earlir in the day I was pleased (wrote 4 1/2 single spaced pages today). And still need to write a couple more scenes. But I'v been revising and hating it this evening. WRiting short takes enormous skill, and I'm pretty sure it's not a skill I have. :-/ This story will definitely be nothing special, but at least, I hope, it won't turn peeps off my writing. :-/

Don't feel bad, I'm hating mine too.
But it IS forcing me to write SOMETHING, however potentially awful, which is more than I've been doing. :-/

I hear you! I think this is the first time in a year or more that I've written 4-5 pages in one day. This type of output used to be the norm for me.

As for the story, I'm so tired right now I don't trust my own judgement, plus I'm not a real big fan of short romance stories, even the best of them leave me unsatisfied. ::shrug::

Being very familiar with your writing, Vee, I'd say perhaps your heart isn't in the story, but you're pushing yourself to write because you're unhappy *not* writing. Even on a bad day, you'r stick pretty kick arse in the writing/story telling dept, Raine.

Betch we both re our stories next month when the newsletter comes out and decid that they ain't half bad after all. ;-)

Thanks AL!

It'll be good when I finish this damn story. Nevermind, I got an idea for another Christmas short story based a marketing email I just found in my inbox. I just might write it up and stick it in the free reads section of my site.

one last thing, the 4 1/2 pages I did on Friday were single-spaced. ::grin::
