American Idol

Who watched tonight? That girl that sang the Lee Anne Rhimes song? I bawled my eyes out. Even before she sang a note. Just hearing the story of her dad passing away a few days before the audition and that she was dedicating the song to him made a lump the size of a fist lodge in my throat. And boy can she sing, but when she couldn't hit the high note and you just knew that it wasn't because she was incapable, but because emotion was riding her high? wow. One of AIs more memorable moments.

Amie, I knew the producers were setting up the audience when they did her little pre-audition interview and she talked about her family--small town/country girl, etc-- how much her Dad meant to her, and she'd called him to him she was on her way to the auditions, then 30 mins later she gets a call from her brother saying her dad had just been in an auto accident and and passed away.

My mouth was hanging openin in despair from that alone. But when she dedicated the song her dad and said she was going to sing 'How Do I Live Without You'? Man, I'm tearing up again. Even Simon got misty eyed. Pretty sure Randy wipe away a tear, and Paul just had to turn her back to the camera. It really tore you up. I'm feeling a bit teary eyed again as I type this.

I saw that homeless kid! I'm glad he made it through, too!

I don't know how I missed your post on this last week but I saw and I bawled. Just saying...

And it's ten minutes into tonight's show and I've already cried...
