I'll tell you a sad little secret of mine. I'm a slacker. See, a lot of people think I'm all kinds of productive. Truth is, I can't even get my dishes done. No matter how much I have on my plate, like Jello, there's always room to procrastinate. Should be doing laundry? Sure...as soon as I finish this level of Sonic with The Boy. Should be paying bills? Right as soon as I finish reading this book for research. Should take a shower and shave my legs? I'll get right on that as soon as I'm done eating this delicious cinnamon roll...
But I'm here to say...maybe Procrastination has gotten a bad rap.
How many folks have sharpened their cognitive skills playing Spider?
Haven't you gotten smarter and improved your vocabulary donating rice to the UN?
Didn't bowling with penguins keep you from going postal on your annoying co-workers?
I read when I procrastinate. It's what I'm doing in my thirty minute showers. I'm clean in five-seven minutes (ten if I get around to that shaving bit). The rest is reading. It was a real pasttime while I was growing up and it turns out, you can learn a heck of a lot from reading for pleasure. Robin Cook is the reason I understand my medications. Stephen King taught me all about what happens to thieving diamond miners. And V.C. Andrews taught me how loving thy brother can lead to very bad things. As a result, my family and quite a few of their friends have come to think of me as their unofficial fount of useless information.
I learn a lot playing trivia games, even karaoke. Believe me, it's a lot more useful than going down the street and memorizing license plates. (Photographic memory, occasionally, it's a pain.) You just pick stuff up in the middle of doing nothing. It comes in handy at the rarest of times. And hey, when you can put off the work and the stuff you have to do to enjoy a few things you'd much rather do, doesn't that just mean you've enjoyed life a little bit for the day? I can live with that as my epitaph: "Dee Tenorio--You'll never beat her top score on Tomb Raider."
Sure beats, "Dee, they'll miss her at the office."
So do me a favor and maybe win yourself a book: List your favorite procrastination station and one thing you've learned from it in the comments and you'll be entered in a drawing for a free e-copy of "Test Me!", my new erotic comedy launching today from Samhain Publishing!

Who said “sexy” isn’t a science?
When wealthy scientist Vetta St. Claire begins a new experiment polling the male libido, she unexpectedly locks horns with long-time scientific rival Travis Carmichael. She never meant to test Travis’s libido…but sometimes a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.
Down on his luck and on the verge of giving up his dream to make a real contribution to cancer research, the last thing Travis wants—or needs—is a fling with the prickly Vetta. Travis doesn’t like her. In fact, he hates her. But when the sex is this good…
“Hard science” doesn’t begin to cover it.
Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, graphic language.

At the moment it's Yahoo Games' "Text Twist".
Sharpens the vocabulary skills. Awakens the right side of the brain. Excellent spelling workout.
And it's free. :-D
(and oh my--how do you keep getting all of these gorgeous covers?)!
Okay, I'd probably need to start a list. It's probably the free games at MSN like: Bedazzled, Chuzzle, Cubis, and Mahjongg. Then we go over to my new Ipod video Nano...this things got me so distracted I'm neglecting the kids. I've been so busy adding funny "Youtube" clips and podcasts I can't think straight!!
And then there are the blogs like this one! I must spend at least an hour and a half a day just trolling blogs!
LOL Raine on the covers. Truthfully? I'm very, VERY specific about what I request. I find pics for reference and even do comps so that the artist can see exactly what I mean. Then the artist,--Scott Carpenter--goes crazy and gives me something I can wibble over for weeks. :) He's very good to me.
Oh, Bedazzled. I'm only saved by the limits of my having a Mac and being unable to fully download the game. LOL!
Dee
I just discovered Bedazzled, thanks to Mrs. Giggles (she has it on her site). Spider solitaire, Freecell, minssweep are all good time wasters, too. *g*
My current procrastination craze is MSN Sudoku. I used to do one that only offered one version a day. But with this one, you can play as many as you like. :-) Of course reading will always be my fav. I squeeze reading in wherever and whenever I can. There's always something to do, if you have a book around.
I have a sudoku puzzle book in my bag. It's so addictive! But I only use it during the commute to/from work, so I don't really consider it procrastinating.
Hmmm .. I'm still a Spider Solitaire fan but I'm not smart enough to get past Medium Two Suits ;) I find that the mindless clicking helps me plot. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Dee, that cover is HOT and there ain't even a man on it!
That bookcover is gorgeous!!
I love your take on procrastination! LOL.
Text twist is a favorite of mine! I can spend many hours playing away and ignoring my work!
I have to tell you I love your cover!
How do I procratinate?????? Well there's always reading and there's playing solitare ( the regular old kind on a hand held device) and a couple of time a day I read the boards at eH and then look for blogs to read. But I can procrastinate all I want cause I live alone and am retired. OK quit throwing things at me I earned retirement. Try teaching teenagers for 35 years!
Hey Gang!
Sorry to take so long getting back here! It's been eight kinds of crazy and I'd tell you why, but you'd just rightfully growl at me. But I had a winner, I really did!
Joyce, darlin dear, email me at laideebug @ gmail . com (sans spaces) with your preferred format and a copy of "Test Me!" is yours!
Thanks everyone for playing! As soon as I get a second to breathe, I'm SOOOO digging out the Bedazzled!
Dee
Whoo Hoo, Joyce!
Thanks to everyone for joining in.
And thanks to Dee for guest blogging.
