Not to be trite, but this is the type of 'ripped from the headlines' story that's tailor-made for a romance novel.

I could see this as very sweet, or very hot depending on where the author decided to start the story.

Romance, Amie, r-o-m-a-n-c-e. lol. But, yeah, it could soo work as a thriller/suspense with the right twists. He kills her because after all their years of amical separation he's finally met someone he wants to remarry, but he doesn't want to pay alimony-- because the new chick is high maintainence-- so now he has the perfect alibi to cover his tracks, cause who'd believe he'd kill his donor especially as they'd remained "friends"? ;-)
