So Nick Mamatas went over to Writer's House to meet with up his agent and wrote about some of the insights he pick up here.
Of the submissions, most fall into two groups: talented writers with nothing that makes them unique or sets them apart, and writers with lots of creativity who can't write.
Geez, not sure which group I'd want to fall into.... :-/
While there is no substitute for quality, the agency is a business too. "Ultimately, there is art, but this is the business wing. We have to keep our lights on—" "—We have a standard of living up here. We want people who are going to make us money."

So... you're a Sex Godess. Did I already tell you you've got very beatiful eyes ?
Yikes! I think you've no worries. Your creative AND a talented writer.
"—We have a standard of living up here. We want people who are going to make us money."
Well duh. :-/
Guess it's a good thing we don't have a standard of living down here.
"From the slush, generally about one or two writers a year find representation with one of the agents."
Out of about 12,000 submissions??! Ha!!
Hmmm..... has Freddy seen your eyes? Or did he mean lips?
I can see where he's coming from. I'm thinking that I may fall into the first category. :( Haven't read your stuff, so I don't know about you. But hey, that's why we get better right?
I didn't really see her eyes, but I'm convinced they're intolerably attractive.
Am I right?
My eyes are glowing red, shoot lightening bolts and turn mortal men to stone....
Wow, it's meant to be a metaphor right? You, being a writer...
As metaphoric as your carrot, Freddy.
I'm smiling at Jaye's metaphorical response.
Touché :-)
