Catch up

Sorry for the absence. If you've been following my whining, you know daylight savings time has whupped my ass this year. I gave up trying to get in to work on time by Wednesday; I just showed up late and work through my lunch or stayed late (which was easy to do anyway because I was busy).

Friday night I went out for dinner (the dining room was beautiful, the food sucked) then I went to see Chris Rock live in concert. And laughed my ass off! I spent most of the show wiping tears from my eyes. We saw him at Massey Hall, it’s a beautiful old concert hall. A very intimate space. We had front seats in the balcony to the left of the stage and it almost felt like we could have reached out and touched him.

Saturday? I crashed. Got 10 hrs sleep, at least. Went shopping. Did some work thinking on plot and structure of the wip. There's several subplots/mysteries involved so I need to have a fairly good handle on the whys & hows of them.

I watched Premonition (with Julian McMahon and Sandra Bullock). The movie is a cross between Memento and Groundhog Day. But not as good as either one of them. It's kinda of a mess and it has a downer ending.

I don’t give a ish what anyone says, give me an *up* ending dammit! It doesn’t have to be syrupy sweet and/or unbelievable. I’ll take “ambiguous” in a pinch, but what’s with the unhappy endings? I can read/watch the news everyday for unhappy ending. Give me my HAPPY! Or give me enough wiggle room to put my own somewhat positive ending on things!

Oh, and I baked banana bread for the first time. Turned out pretty damn good. I found the recipe online at All Recipes. com :

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 1/3 cups mashed overripe bananas (I used 3 large bananas).

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt.
In a separate bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar. (I, er, screw this up, I added the brown sugar to the flour, then ended up added a 1/4 cup more of sugar to the butter, but I honestly can't say the cake turned out repulsively sweet.) Stir in eggs and mashed bananas until well blended. Stir banana mixture into flour mixture; stir just to moisten. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 60 to 65 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of the loaf comes out clean. Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack.

Et Voila!

The Xmas tree still isn't down. :-P
And I need to do laundry and need get the stuff on the wip out of my head onto paper.

I’ll be cutting back on blogging. I’m thinking, Saturdays or Sundays, Tuesdays and/or Thursdays. Wednesday the notice of Southern Fried Chica’s will go up. The writing has to be the priority when I get on the pc, not the procastination. There's really not a lot going on online that that I *really* need to know . Sure it's entertaining and/or enlightening, but I can probably get along just fine being a bit more out of touch.

LMFAO!!!!!!!!! My son's in his room isn't down either.

BTW I HATED Premonition! It totally pissed me off and I think tehre were some logic problems (IE when the little girl got hurt) that bugged me.

PS Banana Bread sounds GOOD. I might have to make some as soon as these bananas go bad--or did they already?

Amie--EXACTLY! If the girl could get hurt as a result of her messing with time, she could have saved him if she'd just said, "Trust me. Get out of the car and run to the side." Or Stop the car. Get out. RUN. The end SUCKED.

sorry. me bitter.

I hear you about the blogging.
I've tried to cut back to visiting VERY few, & only posting 2-3 times a week, unless the spirit moves me. It devours your time.
And 10 hours sleep sounds like HEAVEN.

Small world we live in...eh. The dudette and I were wandering up Young Street Friday night and passed a dude on the corner of Young and Shuter Street buying and selling Chris Rock tickets. You probably were not far behind us.

Amie & Dee - yes! I didn't understand the kid getting hurt part (particularly her telling the kid they should deny it, etc). But Dee you're right that was used to show Sandra *could* change the future. I figured it was a final destination type thing and that's why they went that route. But sorry, if you bother to show us a damn marriage in trouble and that they're working things out, etc the What Da??!?!?!? was the ending all about. They totally fail on the subtext of that movie. It wasn't just about her figuring out the mystery of his death, it was also about redemption, etc. And they totally screwed that over for the cheap special-effects thrill.

Yeah, you could say I'm still pissed/bitter. *g*

The tree is still up Amie. My excuse is recovering from the exhaustion of the previous week and working on the current ms.

The banana bread is excellent. And with such a short list of ingredients and instructions, easy, easy, easy to make.

Raine, cutting back is a neccessity. I'd rather procastinate baking in the kitchen or watching a good movie. Even playing solitaire because at least I'll give that up fairly quickly and move on to something more constructive. But making time online can literally eat up hours of doing nothing but a continous check of a ton of blogs/messageboards.

Dude, we probably did pass each other by. There was quite a crowd downtown on Friday, the weather/temperature wasn't bad at all. We got the tickets for stocking stuffers for Xmas the day they went on sale. I heard later the prices scalpers were asking online. I can just imagine what the were going for on the corner Friday night. :-P
