Not. Uhm, sort of. The plan was: the first scene takes place at night in the Hero's pov, then the next scene backtracks and starts during the morning/afternoon of the same day and leads up to that night scene. But when it came time to put words to paper my two scene choices weren't working for various reasons. I have Elizabeth George's book on writing, and in it she talks about following your gut. This is me following my gut. :-( As a way of writing it sucks, by the way-- but it's the one that works for me.

Anywho, part of my problem was the scenes I had in mind weren't going to work hard enough, and certain elements would have been 'expected'. Sometimes expectations should be met, but sometimes they should be subverted or twisted. That's what I'm trying to do with this wip. Pick choice B, or even C instead of the 'obvious'. I'll still get where I want to be but in a more interesting/enriched way.

So, after much gnashing of teeth, I came up with some new scene ideas that push the story development forward, deal with the various subplots and build/dig into character. There's just some nitpicks I have to sort out first.

Okay, enough blabbing. Got a ton-O-laundry to do--and have to go down to the laundromat to do it. Plus we're going to see War of the Worlds today. Plus, I'm going to write those damn scenes. Tomorrow is my last day off, before it's back in the grinder at work, so I've got to make these days count.

Aaahhh. Doesn't that make much more sense, now? :-P Next time, I'll make sure to have my morning dose of caffein before I blog.
