Where there's a will, there's a way.

Been absent the last couple of days. I'm trying to get back in shape, cause...

I've got writer's ass, Butt Dance and it ain't pretty.

But my new workout routini leaves me exhausted at the end of the day, hence the absence. I expect after a week or so, I'll be fine. ::wincing as I try to move a muscle.:: Any muscle.

Another thing I've been trying to do, is write consistently every day, and to that end, I've started taking my Quincy (my Quickpad ) with me to work. I write on the subway ride in (about 10 mins), as well as, try to sneak in some time on my lunch hour. In two days I written 3 pages. Doesn't sound like much, but that's more than I'd been averaging prior to resorting to Quincy. It's amazing how I can tune out all the noise around me on the train, or in the food court, yet find it impossible to tune out my son when I get home in the evenings, or to ignore the blue 'E' of the Internet Explorer icon. gg. Larissa and Alison blogged about something similar, recently. If you're prone to be distracted, you will be. Which brings me to the flip side, if you're determined to write, You Will.

I found a way to write because I knew I needed to make better headway on the current wip. Eventually, once I get 'in the zone' with the characters, it'll be easier to tell the kid to scram and to ignore the lure of the internet. When I had to get my Golden Heart entry *totally* revised/ rewritten, the beginning of November found me with 300 original pages still to wade through. It took me months(!) just to get through the first 100, but get through those 300 pages in 30 days I did.

Suck-it-up-determination.

Same goes for getting in shape. I've made other *attempts* in the last year, but this time I *know* I'm going to stick with it, because a whole year went by with not much improvement/change. Now I'm *determined* to make change happen. Not just *wanting* it to happen. Which brings me to the recent rash of blotching many writers (published and unpublished), and some readers too, posted that they felt blogging would take, or does take, away from writing time.

But you know what? If you really want to write, You Will.

Oh and I agree. If you're going to write, you're going to write. If you're going to waste time on the Internet (doing ANYTHING) then you're going to find a way to waste time. =)

I think that's the way of it with most folks, Cece--uou get to that "make or break point. Where you decide that you have to roll up your sleeves and get things done. But that point seems to be on a sliding scale, lower for somethings, higher for others. Or the slide moves depending on the urgency. gg.

Love the smiley! ANd agree abotu balancing things in life. I think having a quickpad or alphie can make it easier though. I have a laptop, but it's too old and big to actually haul places and use. It's just good for the couch and stuff. Yes, there is pen and paer, but it easy to get distracted that way too, by grocery lists', and colorful flowers. LOL

If I get a seat on my train to work, usually get at least a couple of hundred words done (in a notebook - I type it up later) but it all adds up!
