That reminds me of..

Tuesday, August 03, 2010

You know when a song is forever linked to a movie, show, moment, etc?
The other day I got Tony Bennett's The Goodlife stuck on an endless loop in my head. I love the song, but it always makes me sad. What's more whenever I think about the song I remember the movie Gangster No.1 with Paul Bettany and Malcolm McDowell. Excellent movie. More of a character study than a ganster film. It's violent but with much of it left to your imagination and copious splashes of blood. And boy oh boy, it's worth watch for Bettany's performance.

Anywho, here's the song,

Blue Rodeo's Bulletproof

Sunday, October 25, 2009

I woke up with this song in my head and I've been humming it all morning. It's one of my favourites by this Canadian country rock band. It's sort of bittersweet song. I've posted the lyrics also below.

Tell me one more time again
Just like I didn't hear you
Like I don't know what's going through your mind, I do
I play the same game too
You know it's hard to stop
Even when you want to

Now the moon lights up your face
And I can see you're crying
You never liked me to see you cry, it's true
I've done some crying too
You know the hardest part about it
Is trying to hide it from you

It would be great to be so strong
Never needing anybody else to get along
But we're so scared of the silence and the tricks that we use
Oh We're careful and we're cunning, but we're easily bruised
I don't want to lie about it
I'm not bulletproof

Well I finally found a way
To hide from all your glances
Til the waiting game we play is through
I can, but what's the use
When all I really want to do is hide out with you

It would be great to be so strong
Never needed anybody's help to get along
We're so scared of the silence and the language that we use
Oh we're careful and we're cunning, but we're easily bruised
I don't want to kid about it
I'm not bulletproof

Tell me one more time again
Well I guess I didn't hear you
And I don't know all the secrets that you keep inside
I tried the same thing too
But they all come pouring out of me when I'm talking to you

Well it would be great to be so strong
Never needing anybody else's help to carry on
But I'm not waking up each morning with forgiveness I can use
Oh I'm careless, and I'm cruel, but I'm still easily bruised

I'm so tired of lying about it
I'm not bulletproof
Oh and I'm not going to lie about it
I'm not bulletproof

A favourite from way back

Sorry for the absence, its month-end at work and crazy time for me, but here's a fun little video.

I grew up watching Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, Sha-na-na, the Beach Blanket Bingo movies (in Saturday afternoon re-runs) and *gulp* Lawrence Welk Sunday evenings,so when I stumbled across this song while at the iTunes store I just had to get it! (I would've sworn Elvis sang it, but it's still fun to hear.)

& This one is going out to today's weather

Tell It Like It Is ~ Aaron Neville.

I want to crack up every time the camera pans to Greg Allman, he looks totally stoned out of his mind. ha! (It was nice to see Bonnie Riatts, haven't heard from her in awhile.)

This version of the song is a tad too slow for me though. I thought Linda Ronstadt sang a version of this too, but I can't find it on Youtube. I was going to post her version of The First Cut Is The Deepest, but it's too fast, so I'm posting Mr. Rod 'Dooyah think I'm sexy? (no)' Stewart singing it.

Ol Skool

Sunday, July 05, 2009

This came up on the ipod yesterday while I was at the gym. When this song came out it was one of my absolute favourites and if I wasn't already on the dance floor this would definitly get my booty shakin. (This Youtube version doesn't have base, but that's probably my crappylicious laptop speakers).

9 1/2 Weeks ~ Slave to Love

Sunday, September 21, 2008

I was listening to Roxy Music's Love is the Drug a few minutes ago, which I was going to post the vid for, then I remembered that Brian Ferry was part of Roxy and I loved his Slave to Love, so went looking for the vid for that and stumbled across this:
