How to Kiss

Friday, August 19, 2005

As a writer of romance, I do a lot of thinking about kissing--how it feels, how it's tastes, how it's done. Is it hungry and hot, or soft and slow? Chaste and bittersweet? Or punishing, with barely coiled restraint. Up against a wall? Lying down? Tiny nipping kisses to a lover's tender nape, or a gentle tug and suckle on the bottom lip?

To that end I decided to slack off on the writing er, do some research...

1. How to kiss a Woman.

Your Kissing Purity Score: 46% Pure

You're not one to kiss and tell... but word is, you kiss pretty well.

2. Tips on Hand Kissing.

Give me a kiss, add to that kiss a score;
Then to that twenty, add a hundred more:
A thousand to that hundred: so kiss on,
To make that thousand up a million.
Treble that million, and when that is done,
Let's kiss afresh, as when we first begun.

~ Robert Herrick

3. The Worst type of kiss. You have to scroll a little ways down, but the list is well worth the chuckle:
The Iguana: Crusty, crunchy, scaly lips are OUT. This is a true case of lizard lips! Keep that kisser soft and touchable. If you run your lips gently across your lovers neck, cheek and lips, they shouldn't be left with what look like paper cuts.

"Where should one use perfume?" a young woman asked.

"Wherever one wants to be kissed," I said.

~ Coco Chanel

4. How To Kiss. (Animated instructional film.)

5. Kissing Under the Mistletoe.

6. philematology: The study of kissing.

7. philemaphobia: the fear of kissing. (By the way, this dictionary of sexual terms is quite an eye opener. I've bookmarked it. ::snicker:: )

8. Reasons Why Kissing Is Good For You.

8. Terms used to describe kissing: buss, exchange spit, French, play tonsil hockey, gag sugar, tongue it, get lip action, make out, lock lips, mouth wrestle, muckle, osculate, perform PDA, pucker up, smooch, suck face, swap spit, tongue wrestle, slurp syrup, or have tongue sushi.

a peach is a peach
a plum is a plum
a kiss ain't a kiss without some tongue
... so open up your mouth
and close your eyes
and give your tongue some exercise...
~ Diesel

(and it's been so long ago, that word would've been conveyed by morse code...) :-/

"Kissing huh?" Jake turns to me and quirks an eyebrow. His gaze runs over my curves and he flashs his bad boy grin, "Where do you put perfume on, Tessa? "

Ignoring the heat that stirs in the pit of my belly I smile naughtily and run a fingertip from the tip of my earlobe down my neck, between my breasts, over my gently curved belly before flattening my whole hand against my groin.

When lust sparks in his smokey eyes I let a wicked laugh slip past my lips "If you're good enough to catch me . . . maybe you'll be lucky enough to find out."

With a quick spin I dash from the room, knowing that man like him wouldn't be able to resist the my challenge.

Still procrastinating are we?

I've never read that Herrick poem before! I thought only Lord Byron had reworked Catullus so.

I loved the limerick too, Kat.

Vee - Jealousy of your 'purity'? ::muffled laughter::

tut-tut. Et tu, Cece?

::shocked gasp!:: Say it isn't so Steph. I was totally buying into that tinfoil halo... ;-) I miss all the h's I'm not writing at the moment. *sigh* So... when are you going to write Jake's story?

Jill, so so easily diverted. ;-)

Suzanne. I love that pic, too. I've had a few kisses like that. yum.

Nice. Sasha. :-)

Dream - I was researching I tell ya.

*snap!* That's it Diana. The Herrick name kinda threw me for a loop. I felt I knew the poem from another poet.

Thanks for dropping by Annalee.
